Emotionally Intelligent Leadership

How to get the best out of yourself and others

“The rules for work are changing. We’re being judged by a new yardstick, not just how smart we are but also how well we handle ourselves and each other” – Daniel Goleman, “Working with Emotional Intelligence”.

Smart managers don’t necessarily make good managers. We live in the world of emotions. Motivation, initiative and loyalty are all driven by how we feel. Some good managers understand this, but most are focused only on the “hard side” of business ie performance, numbers and facts. They often do not have the self awareness or the skills to focus on the “soft side”. The result is people that are driven hard who do not bring their hearts to work.

Studies have shown that emotional intelligence accounts for up to 80% of effectiveness as managers. The good news is that Emotional Intelligence can be improved.

It is estimated that over 70% of organisations fail to deliver on their strategy, with the number one reason being ineffective leadership failing to adequately mobilize and engage employees.

The focus of this training program is to help managers improve their personal and inter-personal effectiveness by improving Emotional Intelligence. It will help them get more out of themselves and out of others.

The impact of such skills is profound across all aspects of business life; working in teams, relations with a customer, appraisal and closing the deal. Each participant will complete an on-line Emotional Quotient assessment which will form the benchmark for personal understanding and improvement through this course.

Course Duration: 2 days

An organisation that attracts the best people and inspires them to perform their best is not only professionally competent but also emotionally competent. This program helps individuals and organizations to build personal and organisation effectiveness by developing and applying Emotional Intelligence to build a culture where managing beyond the bottom line is recognised as a critical prerequisite to achieving bottom line results. Performance Coaching

Getting results through on-the-job workplace feedback and guidance

The best way to learn is to get immediate feedback! This naturally should occur in the workplace. This presents major opportunities for supervisors, managers and leaders to improve employee performance. At present, these skills are often lacking in the workplace, leading to sub-optimal performance.

This workshop is a highly participative learning program. It is designed to help managers develop the ability to communicate with team members in a way that leads to performance improvement and alignment with the organisation’s strategic objectives and business goals.

The program will also help managers realise that performance coaching can be one of their most challenging roles but rewarding roles.  The goal is not only to help team members achieve more in practical terms, but to feel better about their work and, therefore, feel more committed to their organisation.

Different levels of performance require different approaches to coaching. Participants will be given practical skills to coach for the 3 different levels of performance – below average, average and above average.

The Art of Connecting with People

An essential skill for success in life

Why is it that some people feel confident when speaking, interacting and communicating with others?  These people stand out. They are confident communicators. They use their skills to get along better with other people. They have better promotional prospects.

This course is for people who are not as confident as they would like to be when interacting with colleagues, suppliers or customers. They may be relatively junior employees, or people who have not acquired the skills of confidence in communication.

The starting point is the individual’s ability to connect with other people. Connecting starts with building rapport, an important people skill that builds confidence in your personal and professional life. It’s about having people feel comfortable with you - and you feeling comfortable with others. In this program, we will work at two levels – the level of self confidence, and the level of skills.

Course Duration: 2 days
Most suitable for: Employees and lower level supervisors/managers.
